Mr Thomas Hester Consultant Profile
Mr Thomas Hester is a highly regarded consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in complex trauma and all foot and ankle conditions including minimally invasive surgery (arthroscopy), ligament injuries, ankle fractures, cartilage damage, bunions and heel pain.
He works within a multidisciplinary team managing complex tertiary referral cases, including diabetic foot and Charcot reconstruction. Based at King’s College Hospital, a major trauma and tertiary referral centre, he is actively involved in research, innovation, and education. He serves as an honorary senior clinical lecturer at King’s College London and co-chairs the AOUK Foot & Ankle course, teaching complex trauma cases.
Mr. Hester graduated with distinction from St. Bartholomew’s and The Royal London School of Medicine in 2006. He earned a 1st-class BSc with Honours from UCL in 2005, receiving the Scales Prize for Orthopaedic Science, and later completed an MSc (Hons) at the University of Brighton.
Having completed his orthopaedic training on the South East London Training Rotation, he pursued prestigious fellowships, including a British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society Fellowship in Toronto, a British Orthopaedic Society Fellowship in Calgary for Complex Trauma, and a Foot & Ankle Fellowship at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital.
Additionally, Mr Hester was part of the Broken Earth Medical Mission surgical team in Guatemala, a non-profit group of healthcare professionals offering medical assistance in places around the world that need it most.
