Pioneering healthcare with purpose

In 1932, before the NHS was founded, a group of visionary doctors and philanthropists came together with a shared ambition to establish a hospital that would set a standard of healthcare for generations. Out of this belief, The London Clinic was born. From the outset, it was established as an independent charitable hospital, with every achievement directed towards advancing healthcare. This founding principle has guided us ever since. From pioneering the world’s first private plastic surgery unit to leading the way in robotic and AI-assisted treatments, the Clinic has always combined medical innovation with a commitment to exceptional patient care.

Today, The London Clinic is proud to be the UK’s largest independent charitable hospital. Our mission now stretches far beyond our walls, but we cannot achieve it alone. With the support of generous patients, friends and partners, we can enrich the patient journey, accelerate new treatments and technologies, nurture the next generation of healthcare professionals and deepen our engagement with the wider community.

How philanthropy supports The London Clinic

Philanthropy provides vital funding that helps us deliver our mission – advancing healthcare for the benefit of all. Your support enables our teams to respond to areas of greatest need, from improving early diagnosis and patient care to supporting research and education.

Recent donations have helped fund our Rapid Diagnostics Centre at Harley Street – a state-of-the-art facility focused on the early detection of cancer and other conditions – and supported our partnership with Maggie’s at The London Clinic, which provides free emotional and practical support for people affected by cancer.

Through generosity like this, philanthropy enhances the care we provide, accelerates access to new technologies and treatments, nurtures the next generation of healthcare professionals, and helps us share our expertise with the wider community.

FAQs

Get answers to questions you may have about accessing world-class treatment at The London Clinic.

The London Clinic was established as an independent charitable hospital in 1932. Unlike the majority of private hospitals that have shareholders, our surplus income is reinvested back into our charitable mission. This helps us further our commitment to advancing patient care, innovation, training, and supporting community engagement.

Yes, of course. We understand donations are very personal and every individual has unique motivations for giving. Our donors are welcome to direct their support to an area of particular interest, (such as patient experience, innovation, training, or outreach), a department that has especially made an impact on their life or patient experience, or to contribute to our overall charitable mission by making an unrestricted gift.

Yes, if you are a UK taxpayer, your gift can be enhanced through Gift Aid, allowing us to claim an additional 25% on top of your donation at no extra cost to you.

Absolutely. Small donations have a huge collective impact. They create a steady, reliable flow of support that allows us to plan for the long term and respond to new challenges as they arise. When we all give what we can, those small acts of generosity add up to transformational change.

Yes, we would be honoured. Legacy giving is an incredibly special way to support our mission, at no cost to you today. Your gift, no matter the size, will help us continue to invest in advancing healthcare for generations to come.
