Mr Hasan Ahmed Consultant Profile
Mr Ahmed is a Fellowship-trained upper limb specialist with advanced skills in all aspects of shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand conditions, with a particular focus on minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery. Recognised nationally and internationally as an expert in his field, he has trained many surgeons who are now leading consultants themselves.
After completing his orthopaedic training in the Wessex and Liverpool surgical training programmes, and obtaining the prestigious Master’s degree in Orthopaedic Surgery (MCh.Orth) from the University of Liverpool, Mr Ahmed was appointed as a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon in 2005 at Barts Health NHS Trust, London.
His specialist skills in arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery and sports injuries have made him a sought-after surgeon for professional athletes, including Premier League footballers from top London clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, and Crystal Palace. He is frequently referred complex sports and traumatic upper limb injuries – such as shoulder dislocations and fractures – which he often treats using state-of-the-art minimally invasive fixation techniques.
A pioneer in keyhole surgery for complex shoulder fractures, Mr Ahmed developed a surgical technique that has been published in national and international journals. His expertise was further recognised when he was selected by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organising Committee (LOCOG) to provide specialist care to elite Olympic and Paralympic athletes. His reputation also extends to the film industry, where he has treated numerous high-profile performers.
In addition to his UK-based practice, Mr Ahmed has been invited internationally—to the Cayman Islands and Pakistan—to perform surgery on patients with challenging upper limb conditions.
