Miss Homa Arshad Consultant Profile
Miss Homa Arshad is a renowned Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgery, including arthroplasty and complex joint conditions. She performs both routine and challenging hip and knee replacements, treating patients across the UK and internationally.She has extensive experience in orthopaedic trauma surgery and recently served as Clinical Lead Consultant at the Barts Health NHS Royal London Hospital. Miss Arshad is fellowship-trained in pelvic and acetabular surgery as well as primary and revision hip surgery.Her consultant career began at Newcastle Hospitals in 2015, where after finishing her fellowship she contributed to the Northern Trauma Network, developing regional services.A Cambridge University graduate, she trained on the Percivall Pott Rotation and gained international experience in New York, California, and Brazil. Further advanced training included a Senior Revision Hip Fellowship in Norfolk (working with John Nolan, a past president of the British Hip Society) and fellowships with in Germany with Professor Michael Raschke and Denmark with Professor Kjeld Sobelle.Miss Arshad is an ATLS instructor, involved in training new faculty members for the Royal College of Surgeons of England. She teaches internationally for AO and Johnson & Johnson. She is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer for the International Orthopaedic Trauma Sciences MSc at Queen Mary University of London.She is Advocacy Lead for the Women in Surgery Working Party against Sexual Misconduct, in collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Wales.Outside of her clinical practice Miss Arshad enjoys sailing and swimming with her husband and two sons. She has also authored numerous publications and book chapters, which reflect her professional interests.
