  • Breathing pattern disorders
  • Loss of strength
  • Reduced balance
  • Reduced independence and ability to perform everyday activities
  • Reduced core stability

  • Reduced fitness

These long-lasting symptoms may arise during treatment or even years later.

At The London Clinic we want to improve the quality of life of all who are living with or beyond cancer or going through cancer treatment.

Cancer and Exercise

Many people living with or beyond cancer have unmet physical or psychological needs. It has been proven that exercise improves quality of life for cancer patients, regardless of the type or stage of their disease.

Our specialist cancer physiotherapists have the necessary skill set and knowledge to help those with the physical effects of cancer or side effects of cancer treatment.

Our therapists can support you through every stage of your inpatient and outpatient journey.

Treatment can start from diagnosis, through chemotherapy and radiotherapy, end of treatment, survivorship, and end of life. The cancer services physiotherapy team can help alleviate many distressing symptoms such as fatigue and breathlessness, which debilitate many cancer patients.

There is a strong emphasis on a team approach including referral within the physiotherapy department for:

  • Acupuncture
  • Clinical Pilates
  • Strength and conditioning training
  • Yoga
  • Lymphoedema therapy

We aim to help improve mental and physical wellbeing by taking back control, working with patients closely to address their individual needs.
