Prof Hesham Saleh Consultant Profile
Professor Hesham Saleh MBBCh, FRCS, FRCS (ORL-HNS), IBFPRS is a consultant rhinologist/facial plastic surgeon at Charing Cross Hospital and the Royal Brompton Hospital in London and Professor of Practice in Rhinology at the Imperial College London.
Professor Saleh completed specialist ENT training at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee and Northwick Park, The Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear and Charing Cross Hospitals in London. He obtained his FRCS (ENT) in 1995 and FRCS (ORL-HNS) in 1999. He is also Board-Certified in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery by the European and International Boards and holder of Claus D. Walter Award for academic excellence. From early on in his career, he chose to specialise in treating the nose, including both its functional and cosmetic aspects. He became a Fellow of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery at Amsterdam Medical Centre, Holland in 2001. He was also a visiting fellow to centres of expertise in rhinoplasty and rhinology in the USA.
Professor Saleh is a leading figure in rhinoplasty, both cosmetic and functional, and in sinus surgery. He was selected by The Times as one of Britain’s top 140 doctors and top 50 surgeons. He was also listed by the Tatler Magazine as one of the top British cosmetic surgeons as “best for noses”.
Professor Saleh has been actively involved in training medical students, trainee doctors and consultants. He directs the Imperial College Speciality Choice Placement for medical students and established the Royal College of Surgeons accredited Rhinology Fellowship for higher surgical training. He is the Past President of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (EAFPS) and Past President of the British Society of Facial Plastic Surgery (BSFPS). He is also the Past President of the section of Laryngology & Rhinology in the Royal Society of Medicine and past member of the council of the British Rhinological Society (BRS). He organises national post-graduate courses (for ENT and consultants from other specialities) on cosmetic rhinoplasty, lacrimal surgery, sinus and extended skull base surgery.
Professor Saleh is regularly invited as an international speaker in rhinoplasty and rhinology in conferences worldwide. He has published more than 130 peer reviewed articles and 40 book chapters on rhinoplasty and rhinology.”
